Located in Columbus and Dayton, LMK has over a decade of experience at various levels of government, as well as in economic development, grant writing, fund-raising and policy development. LMK has secured millions of dollars for clients in the form of grant and loan programs. We have developed strategy for successfully working public policy initiatives through the legislative process from bill draft to law. LMK specializes in building coalitions of key influential leaders to support legislative and ballot initiatives We plan and implement grassroots projects at the state and national level. LMK also consults political candidates and issue advocates to victory.
Lori Kershner, LMK Advocacy's President, brings great perspective and experience from her years working in the public sector. Prior to entering the private sector, Lori worked at various areas of government including the Ohio House of Representatives and the Office of the Secretary of State. Early in her career, Lori worked on a variety of political campaigns locally and statewide, building relationships across Ohio.
She was then hired by the Ohio House of Representatives where she worked as a legislative aide for the Chairman of the Health Committee. Following her work in the legislature, Lori lobbied on behalf of the influential Ohio State Medical Association representing 15,000 physicians to the General Assembly.
Lori then ran the Ohio practice of a large government affairs consulting firm for three years before starting LMK Advocacy in order to focus on Ohio government affairs consulting. Additionally, Lori has familiarity and success in grant writing, state incentive packages, grassroots advocacy and policy issues.
In addition to Lori Kershner, LMK Advocacy has a strong network of business partners and affiliates who augment her work in the areas of grassroots, public policy and grant writing.
Alex is a powerful asset to LMK Advocacy and brings many years of experience in state government affairs, fundraising, grassroots and grasstops organizing, and nonprofit management. She has worked in many facets of state government and has strong relationships in Columbus.
Alex began her career working with several nonprofits including the YMCA, March of Dimes, and Safe Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY). These experiences introduced her to the intersection between nonprofit and government affairs, and led her to join a lobbying firm in Columbus as their Manager of Client Relations. After this, she worked for the Higher Education Chairman in the Ohio House of Representatives where she gained critical experience with both operating and capital budgets.
After her success in the Ohio House, Alex joined the Ohio House Republican Organizational Committee (OHROC) as their Deputy Finance Director where she also spent much of her time focusing on grassroots efforts. She is proud to have been part of OHROC’s most successful cycle in history.
Alex was then hired as the Finance Director for the Republican Senate Campaign Committee (RSCC), which also celebrated its most successful cycle in history under her leadership.
Alex proudly attended The Ohio State University. She is a graduate of Leadership Upper Arlington, has been a featured panelist for Ready to Run which assists women in preparing to run for office, and volunteers her time for several organizations close to her heart. Alex lives in Columbus with her husband, Jeff, and their dog, Tucker.
